Dr. Shalini Nayar MD, FRCPC
Internist | Respirologist | Palliative Medicine Specialist
Dr. Nayar attended McMaster University for both her undergraduate medical studies and residency training in Internal Medicine. After this initial training, she relocated to Vancouver and completed a fellowship in Respiratory Medicine via the University of British Columbia (UBC). Working with patients who experience chronic and debilitating symptoms secondary to advanced lung disease prompted her to complete additional training in the Palliative Care fellowship program at UBC.
Currently, Dr. Nayar works with patients who are afflicted with chronic illnesses in the capacity of an in-patient Palliative care physician. She works with trainees from various residency programs to help integrate this care into their practice and is a Clinical Assistant Professor with UBC in the Department of Medicine. Her outpatient work is geared towards complex symptom management in patients with advanced illness.
In the future, Dr. Nayar hopes to continue to participate in educational and research activities that encourage concurrent conventional management of advanced illness with complex symptom management.
